We have been contemplating adding another county to our outreach program for a while and we've finally taken the plunge! Although a bit farther than our normal radius, Onslow County, NC will provide us with even more students to connect to through our outreach program. It may have a different name, but it's still the same great program we began in 2018.
Watershed Walkabout: White Oak is specifically designed to reach the students of this county through their watershed. As the White Oak River winds its way through Onslow and Carteret Counties and eventually empties out into Bogue Sound, it changes from a freshwater river to an estuary. The watershed itself contains four subbasins, including the New River, which is completely contained within Onslow County. We're so excited to learn more about this area and teach what we learn through our interactive outreach program!
Teachers throughout Onslow County will be contacted in the upcoming week to connect with us this spring. We hope to begin teaching as early as the end of the month and continue into next school year. This is an exciting new adventure for us and we hope it will be just as prosperous as our Watershed Walkabout: Cape Fear program. As we continue to grow, we will strive to be the "empowering, engaging, exceptional" company we set out to be in coastal North Carolina!
